After being featured in the award-winning film, God Grew Tired Of Us, lost boy John Dau decided to devote his celebrity to the cause of bringing hope and security to the Sudanese people. Since arriving in the US, John has dedicated himself, heart and soul, to giving back through humanitarian service. As Executive Director of the John Dau Sudan Foundation, he is focused on bringing healthcare, education and literacy to southern Sudan. Currently, the foundation is raising funds to build and operate six additional health clinics and education/literacy centers in the region.

Welcome to Help Darfur Now (HDN), a non-profit organization founded by three high school students, whose mission is to raise awareness of and funds for the victims of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Since its inception in 2005, HDN has grown to include more than 100 nationwide chapters involving thousands of students.

Nothing But Nets is a grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. While the UN Foundation has been working with the UN to fight malaria for years, it was a column that Rick Reilly wrote about malaria in Sports Illustrated, challenging each of his readers to donate at least $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed nets -- and the incredible response from thousands of Americans across the country -- that led to the creation the Nothing But Nets campaign.
